About the authors
If you'd told us three years ago we were going to spend our lives cooking and eating amazing plant-based food, we wouldn't have believed you. We were a couple of mates from Sheffield who ate meat every single week.
Now we run BOSH!, the biggest plant-based online channel in the world. Our food creations were viewed by half a billion people in our first year and
our most popular recipe videos have been viewed over 50 million times. We never expected to have that kind of success, and it has been humbling.
'I was the one to first cut out animal products.'
Ian
'I mocked Ian when he went vegan, and asked him where he'd get his protein from. But eventually he won me over. That and the whole saving the world by not eating mass-produced animal products thing.'
Henry
After cutting out animal products entirely, both of us felt fantastic. But we had to re-learn how to cook and find food when we were out and about. We also found that the vegan food available in restaurants or in cookbooks was often, frankly, not very good.
Since then, it's been our life's mission to show people how to make delicious plant-based meals. However often they choose to do that.
We cook, drink and film delicious recipes for the world, all from our home studio in East London.

I have bought a number of vegetarian/vegan and healthy eating cookbooks over the years and I appreciate that it must be difficult to come up with 140 interesting and unusual recipes. Therefore you can get some ultra simple 'filler' recipes which are available everywhere. This book has some of these, but not too many and there are enough creative recipes to certainly make the book worthwhile. I certainly hadn't ever seen or considered making a mezze cake for example. This recipe is available online as a video, like some of the others apparently, which is a nice touch but might put people off buying the book.
From my personal point of view, I'm not sure why there is a small chapter on cocktails and as someone who does not like mushrooms at all, a lot of recipes do feature them. That's just my personal preference, particularly as non-cocktail drinker and mushroom avoider, but I'm sure some people will appreciate those things more than me.
This book is certainly more impressive than a lot of other similar ones I've come across in the past, so I would suggest that most people could learn some interesting new recipes by buying it.

1. Doesn't section off different types a mains, usual cook books separate the content by type of meal e.g. breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as having additional content, this book does not.
2. Too many calories, if you're counting calories for dieting restrictions this book isn't for you.
3. Not a lot of variable dishes/ repeat themes of mains. E.g. Too many complex carbohydrates dishes (potatoes, pasta, wheat, rice dishes) or too many same types of dishes ( curry dishes with very little changes)
My favourites so far are the irresistible risotto (now a regular in our home), cauliflower buffalo wings, and the sweet and sticky mushrooms.
I've made a few of the recipes for shared lunches at work - they went down so well that I was asked for the recipes and now two of my non-vegan colleagues have purchased this book too. Not only are the recipes so tasty, but they are easy to follow, and the vast majority of ingredients are easy to find in supermarkets. The book is also very well laid out and aesthetically pleasing, with photos throughout (I don't like recipes books without photos of the end product; seems important when food is such a visual thing!)
I highly recommend this book to anybody.
The naan bread, korma and rogan bosh are really great. I’ve added images of 2 things I’ve made.

Most of the recipes are simple and straightforward and very appealing.
I've made the pasta dish on page 34 which is delicious and very easy. I am also over the moon after FINALLY finding a veggie burger recipe (page 119) that actually doesn't fall to pieces when fried. I made a batch of these and divided them into eight. Me and hubby had two each with veg and roasties and I've frozen the others for next time. Very tasty and very easy to make.
I will probably adapt some of the recipes with cheese and milk as I'm vegetarian rather than vegan. Tho I love vegan food.
I'd highly recommend this book if you want to eat simple, healthy, plant based recipies, whether you're veggie, vegan or just looking to go meat free now and then as a healthy alternative.
Theres also a very useful section about store cupboard basics and a good section about which foods contain which vitamins, protein etc which is very interesting. Will definitely be buying their new book in April when it's available.
