Comments made by some people stating that it sets like concrete are correct, which is what makes it easy to clean!
Admittedly, if the cat urinates right at the edge of the tray and the wet litter touches the side, it does stick and a thin layer needs to be scraped off. However, if you follow the instructions and have at least 5-6cm depth of litter, liquid should never reach the bottom of the tray and you shouldn't have the problems some people are complaining about where the litter sticks to the bottom of the tray. Look at some of the photos - depth of litter looks a bit shallow.
Although more expensive than wood pellets, you don't have to throw away half of the litter every few days, as you just remove the lumps and top up the tray as necessary. Overall, I think this is going to work out to be more economical than wood pellets. It is certainly much easier to keep clean.
As for the smell, the two bags I've bought so far have a very faint baby powder smell, and certainly don't smell of rotting dead animal (as reported by one reviewer) unless there is a poop lurking beneath the surface! The smell of urine is well controlled.
Just one word of warning - don't flush it down the toilet. The granules turn to clay when wet and will probably stick to and eventually block your sewer pipes!
They have tried every cat litter and every litter tray over the years with only one winning hands down.
My cats are (were) Intersand lovers and the clumping, low track, super absorbent litter is also a favourite of mine....however since Brexit I'm struggling to get hold of it.
My local suppliers are out of stock and the online pet supermarkets are charging extra delivery now due to the weight.
So this left us in a bit of a quandary, do I subject my fussy two to new style litters? I was particularly keen to trial the tofu varieties, but boy it's expensive for two big cats and I didn't want them to get their expensive tastes any higher!
This Amazon brand litter appeared on my search result in the Subscribe and Save so I ordered the small bag to try.
1 tray had Intersand and 1 had the Amazon brand, both cleaned and fresh litter applied, guess which one they gravitated too?
Unbelievably the Amazon one! I thought they'd be fussy but the particles are a little finer, they don't seem to track or stick to their fur and the fragrance isn't too bad.
They've continued to use the tray so I'm satisfied enough that I've bought the large bag to use in both trays.
If you've never used a clay style clumping litter there are a few things to be aware of.
Firstly you have to be on top of your litter game when it comes to cleaning the tray. The more you clean up after your cat the longer you'll get from the life of the litter (I clean after every No2. and multiple times a day).
You're best giving the litter a couple of minutes after a No1. to allow the litter to set, then you should be able to scoop out the now solid litter in one. No2 are easy just scoop them out, shake off any excess litter and it's good to go again.
Now if you have a kitty who loves to No1 in the edges or right up against the side it does make life more difficult, you're best getting a litter scoop with small holes to try and trap any smaller clumps or use a wallpaper scraper (or something with a flat sharp edge) to detach it from the tray wall then scoop it out.
I know that sounds awkward but it saves you having to try and pick broken pieces out of the tray.
I have one that does it (the other thankfully just goes in the middle) and I've also had rabbits that do it too so I'm well versed in attemping to pry almost concrete litter away from the trays!
Because this is a clay based litter do not flush it down your toilet or get too much in your sink (when cleaning) as it's not designed to be disposed of in water.
I do apply bleach to my litter trays when cleaning and it will lift stubborn clay, just remember to either filter the silt out or flush it through, if there is a lot of it dispose of it outside to save your drainage system!
If you keep on top of cleaning up daily this litter will last about 4-6 weeks before a full change, you can keep topping up until then.
To dispose of get a bag (I use recycled bags) and turf it all out, put in your general waste bin and start again.
As for tracking the only litter I see out of the tray is on the litter mats and tbh my two are diggers so most of it probably comes from them digging to China through the bottom of the tray!
I've never (touch wood) had to clean either of them from a clay related disaster, so unless your kitty is under the weather and having liquid No2 or excessive No1s the clay should stay in the tray and not on your kitty.
I hope this helps anyone trying to decide if this style of litter is for them!

The clumps are firm and don’t fall apart so there’s very little waste and “contamination” of clean litter. I haven’t found it sticks to the sides of the box at all but I used quite a thick layer so maybe that’s it. The baby powder smell is not very strong/doesn’t bother our cat. Would say it doesn’t fight odour as well as the Biokat but that is probably a good thing as it ensures I clean it more often than I sometimes did before (had a bad habit of doing it once or twice a week when it should be once or twice per day minimum! And this will fight smells for a full 2-3 days if needed). Highly recommend.
I like super-clumping litter that I can keep really clean but each one I tried ended up stinky after a week. This one is fine after 2 weeks! Because every bit of urine and faeces can be removed.
My cat loves it too! I've not seen a single dirty doormat protest since I bought it and before this cat litter I was seeing a decorated doormat every other morning. (My cat is a good boy but he has grown old and forgetful). Luckily the doormat is machine washable but honestly I've not seen the problem in over 20 days which is outstanding!
Wonderful cat letter, delivered promptly. Many thanks!
