Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

Like most Amazon branded products, these small, easy-to-swallow tablets are great value. The concern I have is that the dosage may be too high or at least unnecessarily high. These are 25 μg but an article in Which? magazine recently suggested 10 μg is all anyone needs. Any more could interfere with blood pressure and cholesterol tablets, and won’t give you any benefit.
Amazon offers a 10 μg version of these and they are perhaps the right dosage. Search for B07GTFT3TN. Apart from anything else, they’ll save you money!
European guidelines are that an adequate daily intake is 15 micrograms daily. The European Menopause and Andropause Society recommends postmenopausal women consume 15 µg (600 IU) until age 70, and 20 µg (800 IU) from age 71. Each of these capsules contains 25 micrograms. So this is a good dosage, well within safety limits.
Vitamin D supplementation is no cure-all. A read of the Wikipedia article makes you realise that the evidence for benefits is not as clear cut as you might think. But I find it is increasingly common for middle aged people like me, with indoor jobs, to get a blood test back saying they are deficient in Vitamin D. As we get older, our bodies get less effective at manufacturing Vitamin D from sunlight.
Other risk factors can include having darker skin, covering up a lot in a temperate climate, avoiding animal-based foods, and not eating the UK English staple foods that have Vitamin D added to them – like non organic milk and substitutes, margarine, and cereals. A 10g serving of my olive spread contain 0.5 micrograms of Vitamin D, an egg contains just over 1 microgram, and 100ml of non-dairy milk contains 0.75 micrograms, so it can be quite hard work getting enough vitamin D from a low meat or vegetarian diet.
It does seem to be the case that low Vitamin D levels can reduce calcium absorption, and may be associated with increased fractures in the elderly. It also seems that low Vitamin D is associated with longer and more frequent viral infections.
I have been supplementing vitamin D for a long time, as I have multiple sclerosis, which is linked to poor absorption of the vitamin. Whether it is the placebo effect or a genuine benefit, I feel better if I am taking vitamin D, with more energy and clearer thought. I have been taking two of these daily, so the bottle is around six months supply, and at the current price I feel this is good value.
The tablets themselves are tasteless and quite small, so are easy to take.
As with any supplement, check with your GP before taking.
These tablets offer excellent value for money and are a considerably cheaper alternative to the ones I used to get from a well known high street chemist. The tablets look exactly the same as my previous ones, so small and very easy to swallow, with no adverse stomach affects.
Highly recommended.
Humans originally evolved in sunny parts of the planet, and spent all day outdoors. Most of us now spend long hours working indoors these days, instead of being outside like our ancestors. As a result, a large percentage of the population in industrialised countries are deficient in this important vitamin, and supplementation is widely advised.
These pills provide an easy and convenient supplement that is cost effective. This is the high dose version from Solimo which contains more than the recommended dose, so you might want to also consider the standard dose Solimo brand Vit D tablet, which is cheaper.
The reason I've awarded four stars is that I'd have preferred to see vitamin D3 and not D1 being used - it's the natural form of the vitamin that's more easily available to the body, and offered in some competitor products.
