Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

So I bought a Mai Tai scented magic tree and the smells have dispersed. The interior of my car is wondrous and an aroma-filled haven. I shall purchase more as, with my intake of meat and spicy food, the farting will undoubtedly continue.
Hope you enjoyed this review. Let the bum burps flow.
Logically, it's a darn near impossible task for any chemicals specialist (such as this company) to separate out all the gazillion different scents arising from the components used in a car's manufacture as well as the materials deployed to bind 'em all together. Each component scent has to be identified and completely isolated in an aromatic analysis process of forensic accuracy. The production costs involved never going to be covered by a £1 retail price, of which perhaps only 50p goes to the manufacturer.
That said, I'm not too disappointed. I hadn't expected much and didn't get much: the initial 'scent' was of chemical compounds unlike anything I've ever experienced in a succession of company cars as well as our family's own new car -- well, new three years ago. It arrived factory fresh from Nissan's Sunderland plant, and by 'fresh' I mean just that: we only live an hour's drive from the production line and the vehicle was delivered later the same day it came off that line. Our local dealership ran PDI checks next day and we collected the car the day after that. So yes: we know exactly what the 'new car smell' should be, because ours wasn't one of those which come off the line to be dumped outdoors in a field and stored there until such time as a dealer, somewhere in the UK, asks for it to be brought into stock.
The Little Tree 'new car' air freshener we sampled positively assailed one's sense of smell from the moment its plastic bag was removed; we know one is supposed to only cut off the top of the bag and expose the 'tree' to the air over a week or so, but we wanted to assess its full-strength effect.
And no, it didn't remind any of us in the family of the scent of the interior of our own car when new (complete with newly unpacked floormats). More to the point, it didn't actually remind us of anything at all, but instead prompted thoughts of how this must be the way a chemicals spillage smells in a laboratory.
After a couple of days of full-scale olfactoryassault by the tree, we removed it and binned it. As the minimum Prime delivery has to be two units rather than one, presumably to subsidise some of the post and packing costs involved, we actually ordered a mini forest of two "trees" so we then put the second tree to work, this time by carefully cutting off the top of the plastic bag -- a patently daft arrangement, because seriously, who wants a small-plastic-bag-with-something-inside-it shimmering and dangling inside a car?
The smell, now, was so weak that it was necessary to fiddle around with the 'tree' -- the touch of which to our fingertips was anything but pleasant -- to extricate more of its branches from the wrapping. But all that happened now was that the chemicals-accident-in-a-laboratory smell returned. Within less than 5 days, interaction of the tree's chemical impregnation with the surrounding air ceased altogether; clearly, longevity isn't a strong point.
In fairness though it has to be said it's possible to spend a considerably higher sum of money than one or two £s on these so-called 'new car smell' products, and that Little Trees' purchase price is anything but exorbitant. A disappointment, yes, and in many ways an understandable one too because it's doubtful any product can ever successfully emulate the complex aromatic mix that characterizes the interior scent of a brand new car, but for the price, you may want to have a little £2 punt-- no two people are alike, nor are individual sensitivities to external olfactory stimuli.
In our case, one star is a more than generous rating but that doesn't necessarily mean your experience would be the same as ours.
Any of the reviews you read here which "claim" the smell doesn't last long were probably written by people who don't slowly and gradually unsheath the tree from the plastic packaging. It is designed to be unwrapped in stages. Of course, if you open the whole tree the smell will be initially overwhelming and quickly fade. However I've found a tree can provide a fresh smell for about 4 weeks when slowly unwrapped.
Smells exactly like sherbert lemon, also great line from Harry Potter movie with the password to enter, Pot heads will understand.
Anyway smells amazing, very powerful, made car a totally different car with this smell, it made us wash and wax it after hanging the air freshner, yes really smelt that good, washed the whole car and waxed it and hoovered inside too
Reasons being, they smell like furniture polish, which isn't a bad smell at all, but in a closed environment like a car, or my van, it is very overpowering.
Make sure you keep it inside the bag for the first week, as it really is overkill if you just whack it open immediately.
Magic tree have always had good packaging, and part recyclable make them a good buy
It's a fruity scent which isn't sickly sweet or too girly. It's actually quite classy for a fruit scent! If you want something that steers away from perfumey scents, strawberry sickliness, or overwhelming citrus, and that doesn't overpower the car, then this one is worth a try. Everyone says it smells lovely.
