Overall Conclusion:
Amazing value for money - highly recommended. Two, very bright LED torches including batteries for GBP 10.50. The torches were used in Australia - in the Outback and along the east coast.

How to Use:
There is one button to turn the torch on and off. You pull out or push in the front element to make the light beam wider or tighter. The tighter the brighter the light is. We found the widest option very useful for walks in the dark and to see the sides of the street/road or in tight spaces. The tighter setting was great in the Outback where you wanted to light up the end-less space in front of you.

Quality:
The torches were used in Australia for about three weeks. We did not have any problems and the torches feel extremely sturdy. I am confident that we will use these torches for a long time. However, please note that due to the materials used (I believe this is metal), the torches do have quite some weight to them. If you want to travel light, look for another torch. The included batteries did get weak towards the end of the 3-weeks trip which is not surprising considering our usage and the strong light output.

A tough, bright cree torch that switches on...then off again. Why can't more be like this?!?

If like me, you're really irritated by the whole '5 modes' thing with cree torches (I do have one but it's now a handy charger for a 3.7 volt battery it came with) and you have to switch through 3 degress of brightness PLUS strobe effect and SOS function just to turn the damn thing off, THIS is the torch for you!
It's very bright using 3x 1.5v AAA batteries, has adjustable spotlight to narrow the beam and is powered by a nice rubber button on the hilt which turns the torch on...and prepare for a shock folks...OFF again with no other functions in between! That's it, promise! Just 'on' and 'off'!
The light itself isn't the frosty 'ice white' beam you can get, more a 'natural' brightness like intense daylight whch is a nice change and very effective.

For the price, it's excellent value and an ideal size for the car, coat pocket, rucksack/handbag, bedside etc.
So, if you want a tough cree torch that packs a punch and is easy to use for any age, get this one - in fact get several.
With darker morning/evenings approaching, you won't regret it!!

I bought this just to do my gas meter readings. The meter is far under the sink and kitchen units so no light gets in there. This has solved the problem.

When I bought it I had a bit of difficulty in getting the 3 batteries the right way for it to work but I got there in the end. You turn it on by the button on the bottom and the LED's are really quite bright.

I can imagine this torch would be really ideal for camping or around the house when you don't wan to wake anyone up! I'm pleased with my purchase. I bought it a year ago and it's still going strong, 5 stars

I didn’t think torches could be so great...

Honestly. The simplicity of this torch is superb.

It’s lightweight, mostly metal construction. Bright, adjustable (zoom of light I mean) and has a single - well positioned push button for on/off.

Runs off 3 AAA batteries (included) and has a wrist strap to boot.

Have bought to leave in the car for emergencies, but am now wanting an excuse to buy a couple for general use around the house and for in my DIY box.

Absolutely superb.

Good price for a bright, reliable torch - but prefer the Hiwill LED torch

Whether this torch produces 140 lumen it is rated at, I can confirm it is incredibly bright. In fact, it is as bright as another torch that I’ve got - the Hiwill LED torch rated at (wait for it…) 800 lumen. Make of that what you will. The build is solid and I can confirm it is water-resistant, having used it on a number of occasions in heavy rain.

The focus/zoom control is what lets it down. Don’t get me wrong - it works as advertised but the smooth continuous zoom, as opposed to well-defined discrete zoom-steps, seems to take forever to move from one end of the zoom range to the other, requiring several complete revolutions. The Hiwill is far superior in this respect, with 10 or so zoom-steps, and I much prefer that design. However, unlike the Hiwill, there isn’t a flash mode - it’s simply on-or-off. Personally, I prefer this to Hiwill’s modes (bright/dim/flash) as the flash mode can be quite disconcerting when switching it back on from dim-mode. That said, the flash mode does have its uses particularly for hill-walkers, just not for me. This is good price for a bright, reliable torch. If I had to pick one, I’d go with the Hiwill solely due to the better focus/zoom control.

Good torch shame about the switch

This torch has stopped working after 18 months of occasional use. The pushbutton on/off at the base does not work any more. It has not had much use since bought and hasn't been treated badly - it sits on my bedside table most of the time. This problem seems to be typical of these 'cheaper' LED torches. The engineering is pretty good, apart from the switch. I had a similar torch previous to this one and that died because of the switch. When it was working it was good - great distance range and good wide/long range. I'll buy a Maglite or something similar next.

Note. 23/4/18. The supplier gave me a refund on the torch (they couldn't provide a replacement), even though it was out of guarantee. I commend them for this - obviously a company that cares about its customers. Thanks Neon Mart.
