We bought this off the recommendation of a gamekeeper who used it with his working dogs. We have trained uur Cocker Spaniel to come back to us when we give it a blast, which was the aim. Lots of treats and tickles are required to get them to come back when you start using it but it it better than chasing your dog around a field shouting their name when they go AWOL and makes you look like you know what you are doing!

This is the first time I have used a whistle to train a dog and it certainly gets my dogs attention. I have a young mini dachshund who barks when he is in the garden at any noise such as other dogs barking or people walking past the gate. This annoys my neighbours so I have bought 2 products to try to train the dog. He comes running when I blow the whistle obviously intrigued by the noise which of course stops him barking. I also bought an anti barking collar for the occasions when I am not in the garden with him. This whistle certainly seems to have been a good buy.

My understanding was that this isn’t a silent whistle - it isn’t but neither is it loud. It’s so quiet to the point that I am unsure if it is working properly. However my puppy seems to be able to hear it, but only responds when she’s fairly close so does she hear it from a distance? Who knows.

It doesn’t come with any instructions or training tips so you will need to buy a book (unless you already know what you’re doing). To be completely honest, I feel that I have wasted my money and voice commands are more effective.

Having recently purchased this whistle, I have been practising with it for my new rescue dog in my back garden. The first time was hilarious.
He had vanished behind the garden shed and came running madly to me to investigate the sound. Even better when I gave him a treat. I have continued to do this and he considers the whistle as a treat reward.
I have yet to have the confidence to use the whistle off lead on my local park as he is still a relative newcomer to our area but I will choose the right time to do so at a "quiet time". All I can say for now is that the whistle really works and I am pleased to have been recommended to purchase one by my fellow dog walkers.

This was bought to help train our new rescue dog who has come with some undesirable habits, like taking charge everytime someone comes near the door, and killing any post. He responds to this, but has still to work out what he needs to do next! ( he is getting there though) I like the fact that you can hear the whistle as previous dog whistles I have had have not had this function, leaving you to not know if the whistle is working, or if they are deliberately not listening. I found that this dog is more receptive to a longer whistle than a short blast, but that might just be this dog. All in all a good purchase, in fact i have just bought another one as a spare
